Gamal Abdel-Nasser was born on the 15 January , at 18 Qanawat Street in Bacchus, a suburban district in Alexandria. He was the eldest son of Abdel-Nasser Hussein who was born in in Beni Murr village in Upper Egypt. Even though he descended from a poor family of villagers, he still managed to obtain a sufficient amount of education to enable him to join the Postal Service in Alexandria.
